About ANSECAfrican Nova Scotian Employment Centre
Community based employment related services have been offered to African Nova Scotians in Whitney Pier for over twenty-five years. In the early 1970's the office opened its doors with Ingrid Shannon and Janice Best working out of the Tupper Street location under the direction of the Black United Front (BUF) with funding from federal government. The location of the office has changed over the years as have the Employment Counsellors and dedicated volunteers who worked to see this organization grow and succeed. Many may recall past employment counsellors such as Garfield Yakimchuck, Patsy Green Meade, John (Hubba) Parris, Curtis Hunt, Charles Sheppard and Lorne Green. |
